Charlotte Gainsbourg makes a poignant personal essay about her mother, Jane Birkin. It is a look at their relationship “in a way I never dared to before”, according to the director. What unfolds in front of the camera lens are intimate conversations between two actresses, singers and cultural icons, but, above all, a mother and daughter.

The film charts their complex relationship as seen in the public world of celebrities and away from it, in the quiet of the home.
