Radical Light by Anne Katrine Senstad

Kai Art Center’s 2020 exhibition season will open with a large-scale light installation by renowned Norwegian artist Anne Katrine Senstad. Senstad’s site-specific light sculpture, specifically produced for the exhibition space at Kai, is an invitation to encounter the perceptive sensations of light and sound in pure form and their transformational effect on the experience of space.

The exhibition is open from January 26th to April 26th, 2020. Tickets cost 8€/5€, with a discounted ticket for all the visitors on every Tuesday.

Cinema program at Kai

In January, Kai Cinema will feature a number of cinematic masterpieces from the past year. On January 21st, the German/Austrian/UK film Little Joewill be screened, starring Emily Beecham who won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival last year. On January 28th, there will be a screening of Denmark’s stylish and controversial drama Queen of Hearts.

 

Lars von Trier’s Sundays feature “The House That Jack Built” and Nymphomaniac I in January. See the full programme here. Tickets 5€/3€.

The first Kai resident of 2020

Kai resident in January is Maija Kurševa. Kurševa is based in Riga, she is an artist, a publisher, a lecturer at the Latvian Academy of Art, a programme director at the Zine festival in Riga and the co-founder of artist-run Low Gallery in Riga. Read more about Kurševa here.

 

The monthly resident’s talk at Kai will take place on January 21st at 6pm. Come and join us for a discussion at Kai office together with Maija Kurševa.

There are still a few more places available at Kai seafront coworking space (Peetri 12, Noblessner). Working conditions at the shared office are flexible – you can rent a desk for a day, a week, or for a longer period.
